CARTERVILLE, IL- The John A. Logan Lady Volunteers battle for conference win against Rend Lake College with a final score of 84-73. With tonight's win, the Lady Vols record moves to 14-13 overall.
The Lady Vols came out with great energy scoring 24 points but the defense was lacking which allowed Rend Lake 23 points. Early in the second quarter the Vols seemed to lose a little bit of intensity on both ends but they kept the lead going into the half with a score of 43-38. In the third quarter, the Lady Vols picked up the intensity but couldn't get a shot to fall. The Lady Warriors outscored the Vols 18-17 in the third quarter and the ended the quarter with an overall score of 60-56, still in favor of the Vols. The fourth quarter was a constant battle from both teams but the Lady Vols outlasted the Lady Warriors outscoring them 24-17 that quarter and ended the game with a score of 84-73.
Freshman, Kalveona Pepper, ended the night with 25 points, 14 rebounds and 1 block. Freshman, Hunter Thacker had 16 points and 8 rebounds. Local freshman guard, Cali Wright, ended the night with 11 points and 6 rebounds.
The Lady Vols record moves to 14-13 on the season. The Lady Vols will host Lincoln Trail College in Carterville, Illinois on Tuesday (2/26) @5:00 PM for senior night and the last conference home game before post-season play.
